There have been 54,000 email security attacks an hour and 237 million in all, in the first half of 2005.

IronPort Systems, an email security company, has a new website where people can report security risks. This is in response to the continuous increase in the email security attacks faced by consumers.

Reports show that there have been 237 million attacks in the first six months of 2005 and that amounts to 54,000 attacks per hour.

The website, FixingEmail.org is sponsored by IronPort Systems. Set up like a blog and bulletin board, the site makes it easier for people to report security risk emails.

The website is the public face of a group that includes email security vendors, government agencies, and consumers aimed at creating awareness of and action against unwanted email.

Tom Gillis, IronPort chief marketing officer, says, “Even with new technology solutions and new laws, it is clear that – unless consumers get involved – the medium of email will continue to be at risk”.
