Two people believed to be responsible for the Zotob worm, Farid Essebar and Atilla Ekici, have been arrested.

The Zotob worm infected networks at U.S. companies and government agencies earlier this month. The Zotob worm and its variations targeted computers that run Microsoft operating systems, especially Windows 2000.

Authorities in Morocco and Turkey have arrested Farid Essebar and Atilla Ekici believed to be responsible for the Zotob worm. They are also said to be responsible for an earlier attack of another worm called Mytob.

Farid Essebar, 18, was arrested in Morocco, while Atilla Ekici, 21, was arrested in Turkey. Louis M. Riegel, the FBI’s assistant director for cybercrimes says that they will be prosecuted in those countries.
