Bill Myers’ ‘Tip of the Week’:

Bill Myers Tip of the Week – January 01, 2011

Can you believe it? Another year has passed, and it’s now 2011.

And while 2011 has just arrived, anything on your web site with last year’s date (2010) can quickly appear to be outdated.

For example, the phrase ‘New for 2010’ will soon look like you haven’t updated your site or products recently – while ‘New for 2011’ sounds brand new and up-to-date.

And these things do matter. Especially when you sell information and how-to products.

Customers don’t want stale and out of date material, they want it to be current.

And that’s why you’ll want to take a few moments and check and update any year references that appear in your headlines or product descriptions.

Also, update the copyright date on every page on your site, so it reflects 2011, and not years in the past.

And finally, make sure the credit card expire year list on your order forms reflects the new year and no longer includes 2010.

These small changes can freshen the look of your entire site – and keep your site from becoming stale.
