Weekend Success Bulletin

What do people expect from you?

Consider that question for just a minute. Think about your friends and family and what is expected of you in your relationships.

Think of your employer or, if you run your own business, think of your customers. What expectations do they have when they are dealing with you?

Now, think about your actions. Do they live up to expectations or do they differ greatly?

In any relationship, business or personal, there are expectations and whether or not those expectations are met will often define your success.

The key to building your success, in regards to expectations, is not only to know what is expected of you, but also to live up to and possibly even exceed these expectations.

The first step you should take is to uncover what is expected of you. More often than not, the best way to do this is simply to ask. You see, we often take situations for granted and use our
own expectations to guide us through our daily decisions.

However, if we go by only our personal expectations, we could be missing out on what our actual roles are, and this can stand in the way of success.

Communication is an often-overlooked but very essential piece of every success relationship. By increasing your communication skills, you’ll better define expectations — and that’s the first step to exceeding them.

This weekend, make a plan to increase how well you understand the expectations of others. And, make sure they know what you expect of them.

Once you start communicating these needs and wants, you’ll already be on your way to new success.

Sincerely,

Adrian Newman
