Using Keywords pt 4 – Google and Your Keywords

When Doing Internet Research, Google Is Your Best Friend

Like many business, Google puts out public announcements to let the world know of new products, new business ventures and the like. But when it comes to making adjustments in their search engine, they quite often just make the changes and donât say too much about them. So if you are not paying close attention you may be missing out on some of the information they are offering.

Using Keywords – Pay Attention To What Google Is Telling You

When you go to Googleâs search engine page, itâs intentionally sparse. There is the Google logo, the search input area and several links right next to that. And these links are very important. The links are âadvanced searchâ, search preferencesâ, and if you are on the iGoogle page you will see âlanguage toolsâ

Query Suggestions

Lets click on the âsearch preferencesâ link. This is where you are presented with several choices as to how your search results will be displayed. Most likely, the defaults will suit your needs, but make any changes you would like but do make sure in the Query Suggestionsâ section, that the âProvide Query Suggestions in the Search Boxâ is checked. This is important. Click on save changes and go back to the Google search engine input box.

In keeping with our earlier keyword research theme, type in âGerman Shepherdsâ. Notice that as you are typing in your word or phrase, suggestions are popping up directly underneath your search term. Google is telling you exactly what information people are looking for, and the words they are using to search for it. So right there, before you even click on the search button, Google gives you a few ideas for you to play with.

Now, click on search and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will see âSearches related to: german shepherdsâ. And right below that, keyword links that will take you directly to the search results for that word or phrase.

Keep Drilling Down

Now you can keep repeating this process until you find those little gold keyword nuggets that do exist. Be sure to go back and put these suggestions into the Google keyword tool to see how many people are using these search terms and how competitive they are before you actually start using them to build your website or do any article writing.

Can You Keep A Secret?

When you do find those little keyword nuggets, tell no one! Do not share your find on internet forums, or even tell your friends. Because someone will tell someone who will tell someoneâ¦.

There are many good people who are into internet marketing and who actually want to be helpful to others. But there are many sharks out there and all it takes is one shark to find out what your advantage is, and poof, it will be gone.

If you do need some help and are a member of a internet marketing forum, donât use your actual keyword nuggets or your actual website to offer up as an example. Remember that there are thousands of people who read these forums and are just lurking around trying to find ideas. Find a way to present your question without giving up your actual information.

In the next part of using keywords, we will take a look at Googleâs Wonder Wheel.

Be Fearless
