To get noticed – ship it in a box
I get a lot of junk mail – and most of it ends up in the trash long before it reaches my desk.
But items mailed to me in a box will always end up on my desk, and I will always open the box to see what is inside.
Most people are the same way – they may throw away unopened letter mail, but they will never throw away an unopened box received by courier or mail.
This means if you are sending something by mail that you want the recipient to actually open, send it in a box.
This is especially true if you are sending a media kit, review copies of your latest book or DVD, or samples of your product.
Ship it in a box, and it’ll most likely get past the junk mail warden.
It won’t cost much more, and the odds of it getting opened by the right person are almost 100%.
