eBay exposed!
There’s no denying it, selling on eBay is a great way to make money online. If you would like to make enough to support yourself, there are a few things that you have to do. Become a profitable eBay seller and learning the ins and outs of this internet giant, can be a full time J.O.B.
However, we have found some helpful tips that eBay won’t share with sellers.
It is a well known fact that to be a successful eBay seller, having well written descriptions and photographs of your product(s) is imperative. Although it can be rather costly, the more pictures showing your listings you have, the more you can increase the your chances of making a sale. eBay allows one picture for free. The more pictures you have, the more you will pay in fees at the end. It is for that very reason that experienced eBay sellers will limit the number of pictures that they use.
One way to add more pictures is to use a photo sharing website, like PhotoBucket. Simply register with a photo sharing site for free and follow the instructions. This will save you quite a bit of money when you are selling your products on eBay.
FEES
All sellers are required to pay a listing (or insertion) fee and a final value fee to sell their items on eBay. The final value fee is simply a percentage of the sale price. This is the price that your item sold for. Instead of being charged a percentage however, the insertion (or listing) fee is figured out a little bit differently. For this, the seller is charged a set amount.
Right now, the listing fee per item ranges from .20 up to .99 cents and .40 for an item priced between $1.00 and $9.99. However, please remember that this is just an example. eBay regularly changes their fees, so the above mentioned fees may not be correct at the time of reading.
Although eBay fees are paid by all sellers, many do not take the time to really understand them. This is not advisable. It COULD cost you quite a bit of extra money. For example, let’s say you list one of your items at $9.99. The insertion fee would be only .40 cents. However, if you list your item for $10.00 (just .01 more), the fee could jump up to around .60 cents! An extra .20 cents? Outrageous!
If many of your auctions are listed this way, it can get VERY expensive. Therefore, before you list items for sale on eBay, it is advisable that you study eBay’s insertion fee sale. Thereby, simply shaving a few cents off of your asking price, could very well easily save you money!
My recommendation? Do a little bit of research first. Other eBay users are great resources and will share many of their money making secrets with you, free of charge. Also, search the forums, blogs, and message boards. The internet has a great wealth of information about the different ways you can make money selling items on eBay. Use it!
