People love humor and cleverness, but with copywriting it’s easy to go overboard if you think it will keep your readers attention.
The internet is a direct response medium, meaning you are trying to get your visitors to respond directly to you. You put it out there and they make the decision to buy. Your copy is going to cause them to respond in one of two ways: either read on and buy your product or click away from it and never look back. Therefore you need to stick to your message and keep them focused on that message.
You don’t want your visitors remembering your copy for the funny joke or the pretty picutres do you?
Of course not. You want them to take immediate action in buying your product because it is something they want or need. It’s all too easy to get sidetracked on the internet. Don’t give your visitors the chance to do so.
When writing stay focused on the message you are trying to get across to your audience. Don’t lose sight of that message because if your copy loses that vision, so will your audience.
