According to ICANN: “The agreement is a dramatic step forward for full management of the Internet’s system of centrally coordinated identifiers through the multi-stakeholder model of consultation that ICANN represents.” [source]
ICANN – DOC Agreement
Details of the ICANN – DOC agreement:
– ICANN will work in an independent manner
– ICANN is not required to report every 6 months. Instead of that ICANN will now provide an annual report targeted to the whole Internet community
– The DOC will simply meet with senior ICANN staff from time to time.
