Average keyword bids decreased by 6.8% in the second quarter of 2006, according to the Fathom Online Keyword Price Index.

Key findings of Fathom Online include:
– Average keyword bid was $1.39 on March 31. On June 30, the average bid was $1.27
– In Q1 of 2006, there was 3% drop in keyword bids
– ‘career training’ keyword bids increased by 286%
– Select keywords relating to pregnancy increased by 111%
– Consumer electronics keywords ‘mp3 players’ and ‘camcorders’ increased by 225%
– Words such as ‘dsl’, ‘isp’ and ‘security’ increased by 50% to 80%
– ‘student loan consolidation’ increased by 40%.
