A new worm dubbed MW.Orc is targeting Orkut, Google’s online community, according to FaceTime Security Labs. The worm tricks the user into opening a file disguised as a JPEG image and steals personal information.

The worm installs itself on the user’s PC and steals information, including bank details, usernames and passwords. The worm spreads automatically to other computers by sending itself through means, including email.

The worm sends the personal information stolen to the creator through email.

According to Facetime, the worm may also place the infected user into a botnet designed to share movie files. Also, the malicious link may be sent to other users in the infected user’s network.

When the initial executable file is activated, it creates other files, including winlog_.jpg and wzip32.exe. These files are stored in the computer’s System32 folder.
