Ramping up your profit through subscriber lists

It is very difficult to overstate the importance of a subscriber list to success as an affiliate. When it comes to profiting as an affiliate, the subscriber list is THE key to your fortune, and no matter what their size, your subscriber lists can provide you with real money month after month, year after year.

The people who make the most money as affiliates are those who possess the knowledge on how to increase their subscriber lists, and how to profit from the subscriber lists they already have.

Of course, before you can profit from those subscriber lists, you need to create them in the first place. That means convincing visitors to subscribe, or “opt-in” to your list. That means convincing your visitors to join your list.

In most cases, that gentle persuasion involves some sort of freebie, most often a mini series of articles, a newsletter, or a report, from your websites. Of course, the internet is a crowded place, and in order to keep the attention of visitors to your web site, and send them to your subscription page, your offer will need a number of things.

These basics include:

– A great title ““ an attention getting title is an absolute must. It is vital to choose a title that immediately grabs the attention of your target audience.

– A list of the benefits the subscriber will receive. This list should consist of a list of four to six bullet points which succinctly describe the benefits of subscribing. The question you must answer for visitors is “What’s in it for me?” or “How will I benefit?”

– An opt-in submission form. This will be provided by your autoresponder system. The best way to encourage visitors to subscribe is to place the three items mentioned above in the most prominent place on your website. For most websites, this desirable real estate is from three to five paragraphs into your sales letter, or one third of the way down in an ezine article.

After your visitors have joined your list and requested the promised freebie, it is critical that the emails be delivered to their inbox successfully. Given the number of filters and other technology in place, this can be more difficult than many affiliates realize

It is important for you to check your spam rating to make sure it falls within an acceptable range. Most of the better autoresponder services will offer this important feature, so it is important to make sure your autoresponder service includes the ability to check your spam rating.

In order to keep your spam rating acceptable, try a number of tactics such as:

– Be sure to authenticate yourself and prove you are a legitimate mailer anytime you receive a response challenge from a spam protection service.

– Ask your subscribers to approve mailings from you.

– Try using alternative formats for your email messages. These alternative formats can include downloadable messages in PDF format.

Of course doing all this will do you no good unless your subscribers actually read your emails. The subject line is absolutely critical to making sure your messages get read and not deleted. The subject line must be compelling and intriguing enough to make the receiver stop and take a look.

One way to do this is to keep a list of the subject lines that best captured your attention. Try this affiliate trick ““ any time you receive an email intriguing enough for you to read the email, copy that subject lien to your favorite word processor program. Keep an ongoing list of these subject lines, and use them in your own email submissions.

After your subscribers have read your email, the next step of course is to get them to respond. After all, your goal as an affiliate is to make money, and you make that money by having your subscribers click a link and buy a product.

The best way to do this is to make the content you provide useful, but at the same time incomplete. It is important, of course for the content you provide to be useful, if for no other reason that to get the subscriber to read it.

At the same time, it is important to provide an offer for more ““ some additional offer that is meant to maximize the free content and make it complete.
