PandaLabs has warned of a spam email, dubbed ‘Ghost Mail’. According to Panda Labs, users are receiving emails with their own email addresses in the sender and recipient fields.

The subject and text of these messages are made up of random numbers.

According to Panda Software, the messages do not contain any malware. But the receipt of the email signifies that the particular email address is part of cyber-crooks’ databases for malicious purposes.

The malicious purposes may include:

– Sending of spam

– Phishing attacks

– Distribution of known or unknown malware

Panda Software recommends that users who receive these email messages have proper security solutions that integrate various technologies, including anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-virus and anti-spyware.
