Online newspaper ads have increased 34.9% in the first quarter of 2006, according to the Newspaper Association of America. The total advertising expenditures for newspaper websites for the first quarter was $613 million.


Online newspaper ads have increased 34.9% in the first quarter of 2006, according to the Newspaper Association of America. The total advertising expenditures for newspaper websites for the first quarter was $613 million.

The total advertising expenditure for print and online together was $11.1 billion for the first quarter of 2006. This is a 1.8% increase compared to the first quarter of 2005.

John F. Sturm, President and CEO of Newspaper Association of America, said: “Newspaper publishers are winning on the Web and their efforts to attract visitors, build leading Internet properties and monetize their online investments are being recognized by advertisers and consumers ““ as shown by a full two years worth of outstanding consecutive gains.” [SOURCE]
