Yahoo is going to add satellite and aerial imagery to Yahoo Maps.

Yahoo is going to add satellite and aerial imagery to Yahoo Maps.

The beta version of Yahoo Maps enables the users to see U.S. locations in medium resolution.

Greg Sterling, principal of Sterling Market Intelligence, said: “The satellite imagery brings Yahoo on par with what Google and Microsoft are doing. It’s a very strong mapping product.”

Yahoo is partnering with the advertisers to monetize their satellite imagery and maps.

Michael Lawless, product manager of Yahoo Maps, said: “Yahoo plans to integrate its Biz Locator ads into its Maps service soon.”

Yahoo has also added a travel search engine that displays both fares and information from Yahoo sites.
