Skype has launched SkypeWeb. SkypeWeb allows users to see other Skype users’ online status and call or chat with them from any website as well as Skype people from each site.
Adam Gross, vice president, developer marketing, salesforce.com, said: “With just a few simple steps we were able to incorporate SkypeWeb into our AppExchange platform. In addition to free Skype voice calls, the SkypeWeb presence feature gives our subscribers the ability to know when their contacts and colleagues are available and online – all directly from within Salesforce.” [Source]
SkypeWeb integrates Skype into any website. Using SkypeWeb, web administrators can enable all site visitors to talk for free over the Internet.
Companies that have integrated SkypeWeb into their websites include Bebo, DBA.UK, Lunastorm, Onet.pl, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, TOM.com, and vBulletin, Hutchison Global Communications, Jubli.dk, nuvvo.com and Pacific Internet.
Skype users can make their Skype status online, using SkypeWeb in two steps:
1) Opt in using the tools menu on their Skype.
2) Create their own presence button by copy-pasting a few lines of HTML and script from here.
