eMarketer’s Seven Predictions for 2006
eMarketers’s seven predictions for 2006 include a substantial migration to VoIP services in the US and the growth of US online retail sales from $87 billion in 2005 to $105 billion in 2006.
eMarketer has published a report on “eMarketer’s Seven Predictions for 2006”.
The predictions are:
1. Internet ad spending will rise to over $22 billion.
2. US online retail sales will grow from $87 billion in 2005 to $105 billion in 2006.
3. The broadband users will rise from 105 million in 2005 to over 124 million in 2006. The number will exceed 157 million in 2008.
4. US spending on Internet video advertising will reach $385 million.
5. 1.2 million people watched TV programs on their mobiles in 2005. This will double in 2006 and the number is likely to be 15 million in 2009.
6. “the search engine providers will deliver more – and increasingly powerful – ad-supported web applications. They will also enhance and push their local search capabilities.”
7. “By 2006, a substantial migration to VoIP services will be underway in the US. The number of VoIP access lines will grow from an estimated 10 million in 2005 to just under 14.5 million in 2006.”
