A research by JupiterResearch has revealed that 30% of online consumers prefer cableTV news sites for national and international news. 29% prefer print newspapers.

Barry Parr, JupiterResearch media analyst, said, “The cable news networks have found an online audience. That’s a big thing, because it doesn’t just affect the local newspaper’s Web site. It affects the local paper, too.” [Source]

The research revealed that the top online contenders for the national and international news market were Yahoo and MSNBC.com.

The research also predicts that the market for online advertising will reach $3.7 billion in 2006. The online advertising market had totaled $3.2 billion in 2005. Almost 72% of the online market in 2005 consisted of classifieds.
