AOL purchases Weblogs to expand its presence in the Blogging Community.

American Online Inc. paid $25 million to purchase Weblogs. AOL will inherit Engadget, Autoblog and a few other web journals as part of the deal.

Weblogs will still have complete Editorial independence and AOL will combine the blogs into the AOL.com portal.

This agreement between AOL and Weblogs was signed on wednesday, October 5, 2005.

It is still not decided whether these blogs will carry a tag of AOL, but they will retain the same look and feel and domain names.
