VOIP will lead to the end of home telephone in Europe, according to two reports by JupiterResearch.
According to JupiterResearch, VOIP is preferred by 17% of consumers in Europe. 21% consumers are interested in diverting calls from their home telephone to a mobile phone.
Ian Fogg, senior analyst at JupiterResearch and author of the reports, said: “Broadband Internet access is powering this transformation of the home telephone. But broadband threatens to become a Trojan horse as it enables mobile operators and Internet competitors — like Skype, Tesco, Vonage, and Microsoft — to compete with traditional telephone companies and Internet Service Providers.” [SOURCE]
The reports, titled “Independent Internet Telephony ““ Build Consumer VOIP Propositions on Services, Not Just in Price” and “The Instant Messaging Presence Platform” explain how location will no more be important for making or receiving phone calls.
The “Independent Internet Telephony” report is priced at $1,500 and “The Instant Messaging Presence Platform” report is priced at $750.
