The Official Google Blog has reported, “With it, commuters will be able to easily access public transit schedules, routes, and plan trips using their local public transportation options.”

This first release covers only the Portland, Oregon metro area. Google will cover the other areas soon.

Google engineers from San Francisco, New York, and Zurich have worked on this using what is known as “20 percent time”, which is a Google policy that offers freedom for engineers to work on their preferred projects. These engineers use the public transport on a regular basis and they have taken up this project.
