Fund management firms and investment analysts have issued a joint statement related to policies addressing freedom of expression by businesses in repressed regimes. The statement addresses the policies that concern human right activists and American Internet companies.

The statement reveals the tension between those who support human rights and the American Internet and technology companies. The companies have to work with regimes which are against freedom of expression.

Yahoo provided evidence to jail a person in China. Microsoft has filtered words like “human rights” and “democracy” from their search engine results in China.

Twenty-six companies and organizations have signed the joint resolution.
