Tip #4: Can You Hear The Sound Of Money?

Do podcasting or audio? Don’t just post them. Get them transcribed!

If your website delivers audio, whether it’s streaming, podcasted or downloadable, don’t offer the audio portion only. Because you can’t linkify an audio file. Right? Well, there is a way around it. And that is to get all your audios transcribed.

The trick is to consistently convert as much as you can into HTML pages. If you can convert multimedia into text, you can ContextCASH them! Transcribe your audios into HTML content, and then monetize them to add an extra stream of revenue.

Simply use a service like iDictate.com. You create an account with them and upload your file. They transcribe your audios using real, live transcriptionist – it’s not software or robots. These are real people. Their fees are very affordable (about a penny a word, I believe).

If you have RSS feeds with your podcasts (which you should), also add in your feed the link to the location of the transcript so people can read along. Just like “printer friendly” pages on a website, many people want to read along while listening to your podcast.

(Sometimes, if you use a blog system to distribute your podcasts, you can very well use the comments section to add the transcripts, too. And, hopefully, your RSS feeds notify users of comments, too — or by email.)
