Firstly, sign up for less stuff.
This may sound obvious but ask yourself – Do you really NEED another “free special report?”
Secondly, practice good “email hygiene.”
When you sign up for things – quite often the form will pre-tick the “send me newsletter” box. Look for this and untick it. (This type of sign up has been called “silent permission”).
Thirdly, politely but firmly stop participating in email chains, hoaxes, silly games, pictures etc. These are a great way to get your email onto multiple computers and potentially the wrong hands”.
