Nielsen parent VNU is taking a majority stake in word-of-mouth measurement firm BuzzMetrics. BuzzMetrics has acquired Intelliseek and they will form a new company Nielsen BuzzMetrics and work together to track and analyse online consumer-generated media.


Nielsen parent VNU is taking a majority stake in word-of-mouth measurement firm BuzzMetrics. BuzzMetrics has acquired Intelliseek and they will form a new company Nielsen BuzzMetrics and work together to track and analyse online consumer-generated media.

“Backed by VNU, the Nielsen BuzzMetrics service will bring together the advanced technologies and client relationships of Intelliseek, developed over the past nine years, with the linguistic technologies and client-service expertise of BuzzMetrics”. [source]

VNU will become a majority shareholder in the new BuzzMetrics with 50.1 percent ownership.

BuzzMetrics and Intelliseek together aim to create a new global standard for measuring and understanding word-of-mouth behavior and influence.
