Like most (all, I suspect) professional disciplines, online marketing has acquired a collection of jargon terminology. This consists of terms that practitioners use when talking to each other about the work.

These terms are useful for quickly conveying to insiders the subject being discussed. They are a “shorthand” the improves communication flow.

When you are just beginning an online marketing career, it takes a while to absorb the meanings of all these new terms. It is helpful to have a dictionary or glossary you can turn to to get a quick understanding when you encounter a new term.

A new marketing glossary has been produced by a British firm, Boost Capital, has produced a comprehensive glossary of digital marketing terms, from A to Z (well, actually Y), that will fill in any gaps in your knowledge. It covers everything from A/B testing to YTD.

Dom Stapleton, digital marketing manager at Boost Capital, comments: “The goal of our glossary was to create a reference point for the busy marketer. Particularly in start-up environments, marketing professionals are learning at an extremely fast pace – and while on the go. Digital marketing will only continue to grow and we hope this glossary will work as a useful tool for both entry-level marketers and those making the transition from traditional marketing techniques.”
