Symantec has launched a free Internet Threat Meter. The Internet Threat Meter offers consumers with information on the risk levels associated with specific online activities, including email, web activities, instant messaging and file-sharing.

The Internet Threat Meter index rates these online activities on a low, medium or high risk level based on triggers related to malware, spyware, phishing/online fraud, vulnerabilities, online attacks, and spam.

Arthur Wong, vice president of Security Response and Managed Security Services at Symantec, said: “The Symantec Internet Threat Meter provides computer users with an essential resource they can turn to daily for the latest information about online threats.

Just as prepared travelers check the weather forecast for their destination city, consumers who are online should also have a tool they can use to help them prepare for a safe and productive experience on the Internet.” [Source]
