Ahrefs’ update on Google changes to SERP monitoring
Google has removed the “&num=100” parameter in mid-September 2025, which means rank-tracking tools can no longer fetch 100 search results in one go, making it more resource-intensive to track rankings beyond the first page.
Ahrefs has published an article providing an update on recent Google changes to SERP monitoring.
The Ahrefs teams says, “Google recently made changes to a specific parameter that impacts the ability to view the first 100 results for any search query.
The parameter, “&num=100”, no longer functions as it had previously.
The change has had an industry-wide impact, including on third-party data providers to Ahrefs, who relied on this functionality to assess a website’s presence in search results.
While rank tracking is only one part of our product, it’s important.
These changes don’t impact the frequency of our updates, but will reduce the number of results we can check for each term beyond Google’s first page.”
