‘New COPPA Rules Will Allow Facebook to Advertise to Children’ – ‘Mashable’
The latest post on ‘Mashable’ is titled “New COPPA Rules Will Allow Facebook to Advertise to Children”.
Alex Fitzpatrick says, “The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA, is the set of rules protecting the privacy of all Internet users younger than 13. COPPA’s rules have mostly stayed the same since 2000, but the Internet has evolved significantly since then — the rise of the social and mobile web, for instance, largely occurred after COPPA was first written.
The agency repsonsible for enforcing COPPA, the Federal Trade Commission, has acknowledged that technology’s evolution means it’s time to change those rules to ensure children’s online privacy remains protected. The FTC announced those changes Wednesday”.
