5 SEO Copywriting Tips for Beginners
KEYWORDS – Keywords can be made up of one to four words maximum (anything more than that may already be detrimental to your success) and these words best reflect what your company is all about. Appropriate keywords for Nike would be sportswear, sports shoes, or sports brand. You need to be careful when choosing keywords for your company because the wrong choice of keywords could simply generate unproductive leads.
Once you’ve determined the right set of keywords, the next thing to figure out is up to how many times you wish and would be able to use it in a particular article. The frequency upon which a keyword is mentioned is referred to as KEYWORD DENSITY.
When writing with a specific keyword density to adhere to, you’ll realize that it’s difficult to stay balanced in regard with your goals. Whereas 2 to 3% keyword densities are relatively easy to maintain, anything more than that will be a considerable challenge; you might find it necessary at one point to choose between being grammatically correct and being SEO-oriented.
If you prioritize grammatical correctness over SEO, your article would face a slightly more difficult period ahead since it has to fight its way to the top to search engine rankings. If you prioritize SEO over grammar, you have a chance of zooming to the pinnacle of search engine results but at the same time, you risk alienating your readers because of atrocious grammar.
Of course, smart readers would figure out that the grammatical errors in your article are caused by SEO, but this may not spell a whit of difference to them.
TITLES – Once you start on creating SEO copywriting material for your website, you’ll soon realize that devising titles for your works is actually more difficult than writing the body of the text. Titles however are awfully important and generally serves as basis for your readers’ first impression.
When making up titles, the first golden rule to remember is that it must be brief. Anything too long will have a greatly reduced impact. Secondly, it must be catchy. Non-writers however take too long a time thinking up of catchy titles, so if you’re facing a tight deadline, one easy way of making catchy titles is by using numbers.
Readers generally prefer articles that are titled with numbers.
Ex: “Six Ways to…” or “Eight Tips for…”
INTRODUCTIONS – Introductions must be short. It may even consist of one sentence alone and still be effective just as long as the heart of your work is clearly explained through it.
BODY – Expect your readers to skim. No matter how effectively you’ve written your work, some of your readers will still be skimming what you’ve written so you have to make sure that your work gives a favorable impression however brief the attention they’re given.
ENDING PARAGRAPHS – Always divide the end for your SEO copywriting material into three major parts. The first is a brief summary – two to three concise sentences are ideal – of what you’ve discussed in the previous paragraphs. The second part should provide a strong call for action: it must successfully persuade readers to do what you ultimately wish them to do. And lastly, provide additional contact information about your company.
And this marks the ends your first lesson on SEO copywriting. This, however, also marks the start for you to use SEO copywriting for your website.
Good luck!
