Panda Software Data
Panda Software has provided the following data:
– In 2006, 14% of the new malware were Bots
– 13.6% were backdoor Trojans
– Dialers (programs that connect users to the Internet through a premium-rate number) accounted for 6.2% of new malware
– Worms accounted for 5.5% of new malware.
Luis Corrons, Technical Director, PandaLabs, said: “Although large epidemics caused by a single malware sample have almost disappeared, the appearance of new malware never stops.
This false sense of security works in favor of criminals, as they can launch silent attacks more easily. Also, the greater the number of new malware variants in circulation, the greater the risk of a computer becoming affected by any of them”. [source]
