10 Minute Email Kills Squeeze Pages

Giving your email address just to get access to a crummy sales page, may be a thing of the past. A brand new service that just launched, provides an email address that expires after just 10 minutes.

Similar to a web-based mail service, any email sent to that address can be read on the screen. You can reply and click on links. It’s just like having a regular email account.

Use this service any time that you don’t want to give out a real email address. You’ll get a lot less spam and junkmail from being on lists. It’s quick, easy and disposable.

Now you can get access beyond the sign-up page, to see if a product is worthwhile or not. Then if you liked what was behind the squeeze page, you can always sign up a second time, with a real address.

Blogging for Beginners 15 Videos

After a somewhat bitter blog battle, WordPress finally granted Sherman Hu permission, to use the trademark in his domain name and training materials. Sherman has agreed to put legal disclaimers on his site, and not to sell content management, or web publishing software on his site.

The big winners in this case are me, you, and the general public. As part of the deal, Sherman has agreed to make 15 of his WordPress training videos available to the public.

This first set of videos will help you get a WordPress blog up and running on your site. Then if you want to learn more, the back stage pass with the advanced tutorials and video are still available.

So if you’ve been considering a blog or putting it off, now there’s no excuse. Learn why blogging is easier than making web pages, and how to get your voice published and syndicated around the world.

Google Shows Your Linking Neighborhood

This visual search tool will allow you to see your internet neighborhood. You get to see who’s linking to you, the sites that link to them, and the sites that link to them.

You must have Java enabled in your browser for the tool to work. Just go to the tool and enter a starting URL.

The colors show the strength of the linking relationships. Click on the info tab to get a snippet about your link partner’s site. Double click on any site and be patient while the map redraws, to show a whole new set of maps.

Like any tool or software, it takes a while to get the hang of it. But this one is not only informative, it’s very addictive.

Overall, it’s a very revealing look into the relationship maps, that the search engines use while crawling the web and ranking our sites. Find out who’s who in your linking neighborhood.

MSN, Yahoo & Google Agree on Sitemap Format

What are Sitemaps? According to the now official website, “Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.”

Or put another way, it’s a simple XML file that lists all the pages of a site. It also contains other metadata, like when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important each of the pages are.

(Of course using the Sitemap protocol does not guarantee your page will get indexed. But it does help the spiders do a better job of crawling your site.)

Sitemap 0.90 is built upon the Sitemaps 0.84 standard, which was created by Yahoo and Google. The new 0.90 gains even wider acceptance, as the protocol is now officially supported by Microsoft.
