Key findings of Compete study include:
– Social networking site usage has increased by 414% since January 2004
– One-third of social networking site users spend less time watching television, and reading newspapers or magazine
– Social networking site users say that peers and colleagues hold more influence over their purchase than any other source of information
– 78% people join a social networking site to meet people
– 47% people join a social networking site to find entertainment
– 38% people join a social networking site to learn something new
– 23% people join a social networking site to influence others.
