65% of US e-mail users faced image suppression in July 2006, according to Epsilon Interactive. In ‘image suppression’, the users have to manually display the images they receive via e-mail.
Key findings of Epsilon Interactive include:
– ‘69% know how to activate suppressed images
– 94% activate suppressed images occasionally
– The Image activation depends on the message type and sender
– 90% sometimes activate images in e-mail that they receive from friends and family
– 69% sometimes activate images in statements or order information
– 57% sometimes activate images in promotional messages from the senders whom they have given permission to send e-mails
– 16% sometimes activate images in promotional messages from senders whom they don’t know’.
