Panda Software has warned Internet users from Ransomware, a technique that uses malicious programs to prevent users from accessing their own documents.

Ransomware displays a message telling users that their information has been ‘kidnapped’ and demands US$10.99 in order to release it.

The first Ransomware ‘Ransom.A’ was detected on April 28.

After infecting a computer, Ransom.A threatens to delete a random file every 30 minutes, until the victim pays the sum of US$10.99, according to Panda Software.

Panda Software has advised Internet users to scan their PCs occasionally with the Panda ActiveScan free online scanner.
