From December 2005 to February 2006, 7.5 Million UK People searched on websites for planning their travels, according to a report by comScore, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Media Contacts.
From December 2005 to February 2006, 7.5 Million UK People searched on websites for planning their travels, according to a report by comScore, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Media Contacts.
Key findings of the report include:
– 9.8 Million travel purchases were generated during the three months period
– 85% of consumers completed a travel purchase
– 10% purchases were made during the initial search session
– 45% of purchases were made 1 – 4 weeks after the initial search session
– 45% of purchases were made 5 – 8 weeks after the initial search session
– 32% clicked on sponsored ads
– 25% made the purchases on the site listed among the first few search results.
Nick Jones, Category Development Director at Yahoo! Search Marketing, said: “Marketers need to consider the strategic aspects of Web search as a method of discovery for new brands and services, and a key means of gathering information among travel planning consumers”. [source]
