Spam Accounts for 80% of Emails in Q1
Spam accounted for 80% of emails in the first quarter of 2006, according to a report by Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group. MAAWG members include AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft.
Spam accounted for 80% of emails in the first quarter of 2006, according to the MAAWG.
Additional findings of the report include:
– Number of mailboxes represented reached 389.6 million, compared to 350.2 during Q4 2005.
– Number of dropped connections and blocked/tagged inbound email reached 370.1 billion, compared to 342 billion during Q4 2005.
– Number of unaltered delivered email reached 90.5 billion, compared to 82.2 billion during Q4 2005.
– Number of dropped connections and blocked/tagged inbound emails per mailbox was 950, compared to 977 during Q4 2005.
– Number of dropped connections and blocked/tagged inbound emails per unaltered delivered email was 4.09 compared to 4.16 during Q4 2005.
