According to Fortify Software, the four major threats include:
– Bot Storming: Over 50% of attacks on web applications in the past six months were generated by automated probes, bots or bot networks which search for unprotected and unpatched components of web applications.
– Google Hacking: Over 20% of all security breaches in Fortify’s monitoring pool were resulted from hackers accessing website vulnerability information that is stored in search engine indices.
– Directed Attacks: Techniques include cross-site scripting, SQL injection and buffer overflow attacks.
– Global Attack Base: Attack origination points include US, China, Poland, and Australia, signifying a global attack base.
