NetCraft has warned of a Citibank phishing attack. According to NetCraft, phishers have found a way to defeat two factor authentication and get access to online banking accounts.
Another authentication factor that is used by Citibank is through a security token. Security token is a physical device held by the account holder which generates a password that is valid for one minute.
According to NetCraft, phishers can trick a user into entering this password into a form. Once the password is entered in the form, phishers can immediately relay the authentication codes to the Citibank site and log in as the account holder.
NetCraft is a provider of phishing protection services, including Phishing, Identity Theft and Bank Fraud Detection.
