According to Cutts, the machine works in the following manner:

Cutts says, “All you’ll need to do is:

1. Log into your MyLinkMachine account.

2. Go to ‘Directory of Sites’.

3. Select a website you want to link with.

4. Click ‘Send Request’

What happens “behind the scenes” is this:

1. Their link will automatically be added to your website, in the category you choose.

2. They are automatically sent an email with the location of your website and the inbound link.

3. When they click ‘Accept’, your link is added to their website AUTOMATICALLY, and you’ll receive an email letting you know your link’s location”. [source]
