Sophos has warned of a spam email involving Vladimir Putin. The email claims to hold breaking news about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s death.
According to Sophos, the email is embedded with a hidden script. The script exploits the ADODB.Stream vulnerability and attempts to download the Dloadr-ZP Trojan.
The Trojan horse attempts to download further malicious code on the affected computer which allows hackers to gain backdoor access to the affected computer.
The email claims to be from BBC News. But when a user clicks on the link in the email, he/she is directed to a Russian website that claims to be a construction firm which provides heating systems for apartments and advertising training seminars.
