Sober-Z worm is the most widespread virus from January 2006, according to ‘Sophos Security Threat Management Report’ by Sophos.
Key findings of Sophos include:
– New Trojans outweigh viruses and worms by 4:1
– In 2006, one in every 91 of all emails were viral
– In 2005, one in every 35 of all emails were viral
– By June 2006, Sophos identified 180,292 different viruses, spyware, worms, Trojan horses and other malware.
Graham Cluley, Senior technology consultant at Sophos, said: “It’s more vital than ever that all organisations use an integrated security solution to protect against intrusion, as well as blocking known and unknown malware. On top of this, hackers seem happy to primarily target Windows users and not spread their wings to other platforms”. [source]
