Georganne answers a question received: “How can I get paid to write my articles?”

Georganne says, “The answer? Well, that depends on how you define the word “paid.” Sometimes, writing articles can bring you many benefits and rewards even if you are not getting a paycheck for them today.

When I had my first magazine article published in a magazine called Parent Guide over 20 years ago, I did not get paid, at least not in a paycheck. It did give me a published clip that I used to help another article get published in Baby Talk ($75) and an essay that was published in the New York Times ($75).

Those clips helped me write a column in a business magazine for 5 years ($400 each) plus 12 articles for Family Circle ($1,000-$2,000 each.)”
