Reader’s Choice and Selection Procedure

Marketing Sherpa made a call for nomination of blogs on June 12.

The nomination was free. According to Marketing Sherpa 1028 nominations were received.

The final ballots were prepared by Marketing Sherpa based on the following qualifications:

Qualifications were:

– “Must have been launched before Jan 1, 2006 (ie some postings dated 2005)

– Must be updated at least roughly weekly or more frequently

– Must be written by a named individual or group of individuals

– Content must primarily be on a topic related to marketing” [source]

Out of the 1028 blogs, 107 qualified for the final list.

Finally, readers were asked to vote the best blogs and podcasts out of the 107 listed.

The voters were asked to take into account the following four factors:

Voters were asked to take four factors into consideration:

1. Personality

2. Usefulness

3. Design & readability

4. Would you revisit?

The three quality options were:

A. Excellent

B. Not Bad

C. Blah

According to Marketing Sherpa, “the total number of votes received was generally far less important than the percent of votes that were “Excellent”. We were far more interested in perceived blog/podcast quality than we were in the number of votes a particular nominee might be able to send to the voting form”.
