The summary also reports that mobile malware has crossed the 200 barrier in the first 6 months of 2006.
Additional findings in the summary include:
– There are currently over 185,000 known viruses.
– The most significant change in viruses in the past 20 years is the evolution of virus writing hobbyists into criminally operated gangs.
– These criminally operated gangs write viruses for financial gains.
– Most data security vendors fail to offer rootkit detection technology.
