PandaLabs has warned the Internet users of “˜Sixem.A’ worm that spreads via emails using subjects such as “˜Naked World Cup game set’ to trap users.
PandaLabs has warned the Internet users of “˜Sixem.A’ worm that spreads via emails using subjects such as “˜Naked World Cup game set’ to trap users.
In the message text of emails, the users are offered a chance to attend a “˜nudist world cup’ by clicking on the link in the email.
The email attachment is an executable file that appears to be an image. The file is “˜Downloader.JGP Trojan’ according to PandaLabs.
Downloader.JGP Trojan collects email addresses from the user’s computer using which it then sends itself out to those email addresses.
Sixem.A also terminates the security programs of the computer.
Luis Corrons, Director of PandaLabs, said: “Users are advised to be wary of any email from unknown sources and to take precautions before downloading files from websites. To prevent the potentially damaging effects of this kind of malware users should make sure they have an up-to-date antivirus with technologies capable of detecting new threats”. [source]
Panda Software is offering its free, online anti-malware solution, Panda ActiveScan, to detect such viruses.
