China’s search engine market has reached RMB 303 million in the Q1 of 2006, according to a new report ‘China Search Engine Market Quarterly Tracker Q1 2006’ by Analysys International.

Key findings of Analysys International include:

– China’s search engine Baidu occupied market share of 43.9%

– Yahoo China’s market share was 21.1%

– Google ranked third in Chinese marketplace with market share of 13.2%

– Revenues from Pay per Click Search Engine Bidding reached RMB 175 million

– Revenues from fixed position search engine advertising reached RMB 9 million

– Revenues from real-name keyword registration and advertising services
reached RMB 120 million in Q1 of 2006.

Google needs to work on localization and building marketing channels in China, according to Analysys International.
