Unwanted email traffic has increased 20% in June, according to a report by CipherTrust. According to the report, there is a 21% increase in the number of new zombie computers.
Additional findings include:
– 64% of spam servers are located in Taiwan
– 23% servers are located in the US
– 3% servers are located in China
According to the report, the increase in spam volumes coincide with the increase in the number of new zombie computers. CipherTrust predicts that this will also coincide with the increase in the use of randomized image-based stock spam.
In such spam, spammers use graphic-based messages to escape traditional anti-spam software.
