79 million US households and 110 million households in Western Europe will have broadband access by 2011, according to JupiterResearch.
Key findings of JupiterResearch include:
– In 2005, 36% of US households were connected to the Internet via broadband
– Broadband connections will increase up to 65% by 2011
– Average European household will generate 54% less broadband access revenue in 2011 compared with 2005.
Joe Laszlo, Research Director at JupiterResearch, said: “In the US, strong momentum on the part of telephone companies means that DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) will overtake cable modems in market share by 2010,
US cable operators will have to combine price cuts and better marketing efforts to forestall this outcome”. [source]
