Yahoo censored the maximum search terms in China, according to a report by Reporters Without Borders. The company carried out the test on search engines in China including, Yahoo!, Google, MSN and Baidu.

Additional key findings of the report include:

– Yahoo.cn and baidu.cn censored results strictly.

– Google.cn and msn.cn allowed more information from sources unauthorized by authorities.

– Search results on yahoo.cn for ‘subversive’ keywords are 97% pro-Beijing.

– Search terms, including 6-4( date of Tiananmen Square massacre) and Tibet Independence blocked yahoo.cn so that users could not use the engine for over an hour.

– Search results on google.cn for ‘subversive’ keywords are 83% pro-Beijing.

– Results for such keywords are 78% pro-Beijing on msn.cn.

– The same request on uncensored search engines, including google.com produced 28% pro-Beijing results.
